Generational changes, the ever-changing labor market, changes in mentality following a global pandemic and concerns about the increasingly imminent climate change have been the breeding ground for what we are currently seeing. The development by governments of initiatives focused on fostering entrepreneurship has led to an exponential growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Spain is one of the ideal European countries for entrepreneurship due to different aspects. The climate, the quality of life and the new ways of working implemented after the pandemic, make our country an interesting place for the entrepreneurial ecosystem. In addition, the government’s vision of innovation and technology as levers of change necessary to improve competitiveness helps to encourage the interest of entrepreneurs in our country.
According to the figures that are handled in the sector. According to El Referente’s platform “Ecosistema Startup”, it determines a total of 4,000 Startups active in Spain until the end of 2021. In turn, a report prepared by the consulting firm PWC concludes that the sector employs more than 140,000 people, that there are currently more than 149 accelerators and more than 99 incubators. These figures allow us to draw two conclusions:
1. The sector is alive and booming, it moves figures in continuous growth and is a standard to promote innovation and generate wealth in a country.
2. The growth of the sector makes differentiation necessary. Not just any project should go to just any accelerator. Working with objective and focus will allow startups to grow at the pace they need and obtain the necessary resources each time.
The Spanish Government’s current roadmap includes the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem among its legislative priorities. For this reason, it has launched the initiative “Estrategia España Iniciativa Emprendedora”, whose long-term vision is based on the transformation of the productive bases of the Spanish economy in order to turn Spain into a more innovative country.
Regarding the investment received by the Startups, we must say that it follows the line of growth of the bulk of the sector, having experienced a growth in operations from 309 to 402 from 2020 to 2021 in the Spanish territory.
In conclusion, at a historic moment like the one we are living in which geopolitics is of absolute importance, efficiency in production processes has become a priority need and the problems arising from energy shortages have opened our eyes to the need to find new ways or optimizations when accessing this energy, it is time for entrepreneurs, it is time to seek, support and encourage that innovation that only curious minds can provide. For this reason Menttoriza is born, to be by the side of those entrepreneurs with brilliant ideas that want to change the world and give answers to the current problems we face as a society.
